About Mike Bailey

This April, 2012, my wife and I have lived in Wauconda, IL for 30 years in this same house on Brown Street. We will have been married for 34 years this July 1.  We have a married daughter who is 32 and a married son who is 29.

I am the 2nd son of 6 boys (no girls) of my parent’s family. My father was a career officer in the Air Force and was a Navigator in World War II, helping to drop bombs over Hitler’s extended empire in Italy.  I think it was from dad that I learned patriotism and respect for the men and women who fought for the freedoms we have in America. I remember dad saluting the flag and the men in USAF airplanes who defended our country.  I grew up respecting and fearing my dad, but also knew him as a loving father, a provider and protector of our country and our family.  He died in 1994.

I have a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering and have in the past worked as a chemical engineer in the air pollution control industry in the Chicagoland area for over 20 years.  We have been involved in children’s ministry for over 30 years in our local church, teaching the Bible to 3rd and 4th grade boys and girls.  In the last 10 years, I have acquired a teacher’s certification in science for 6-12 grade levels, have taught H. S. Physical Science for 1 year, and have worked on cars out of my garage at home for the last 6 years.  The moral of the story is: you’re never too old to learn if you are willing to use your hands as well as your mind.  I have a desire to acquire a good telescope and to observe the stars that are an amazing creation of God.

I have a concern for the direction our country is going in and has been going in for some time.  I don’t think my dad or my father-in-law, who died in 2010 at 95,  would recognize or be happy about our country today. But I believe there is hope for every generation that prays and seeks God’s face, that we as individuals and as a nation would repent and return to His truth.  And I believe that the truth is found in Jesus for all who believe.  John 3:16.

  1. I am a resident of Wauconda, IL and am a new blogger. I hope this blog will be a multifaceted web log and an opportunity for me to express my Christian faith and hopefully biblical world view of my life and times. I ask you to be patient with me as I endeavor to understand where I am going with this. Thanks. I welcome your feedback, comments, and discussion.
